What Is Deemed ‘Real’ And ‘Fake’ In Style Blogging?

what is real and fake in fashion blogging? pink hair, don't care

Pink hair, don’t care!
t-shirt – Imaginary | jeans – Dickies | beanie – unknown

I’ve been waxing poetic a bit lately about personal style blogging.. and as bloggers, I feel it’s time to start projecting our most authentic selves.

I am fully aware that each of us has the potential to show so many different aspects of our personalities, from the way that we dress, to the poses we choose, locations, etc.. and that is constantly changing on a daily basis, depending on our mood, the season, and any occasion we may be dressing for.

But I think the main question to consider here is:

Do your readers really care if you wore that outfit all day, or just put it on for a quick photo shoot?

I really have no idea what the blogging community thinks about this, but is this not exactly what models have been doing for magazine editorials for like, ever? I’m sure some bloggers could argue this for hours at a time, but essentially, what is deemed ‘real’ or ‘fake’ in fashion will always be subject to interpretation. But when it comes to style bloggers, there is an assumption in place, that we live and breathe the images we share, so the conclusion of the average reader is that we are what we wear, all of the time.

I however, am rather proud to admit that yes, what I wear on a regular basis is exactly what I post on this blog. I began this project with a personal oath of honesty, to myself, as well as the world, and I cannot go back on that now. I am who I am, and strange as I may be sometimes, and you can take it or leave it.

And so, I must ask you…

How do you determine ‘real’ and ‘fake’ in style blogging?
And do you dress up specifically for your style photos, or wear the outfit all day?
